In my totally biased opinion...Texas has the best state flag. Simple, clean, tells a story with the Lone Star, and it immediately recognized throughout the world.
But, alas, I fear this will become our flag some day.
Luuuuucy! Splane to me why the P.R. flag is listed as a U.S. state flag.
Seriously, he was Cuban.
Lucy might not be able to splain it, but Wikipedia does a good job. Looks like it might be up for vote again in 2006. My biggest problem with adding any state is how it's gonna screw up the stars and stripes. I haven't yet seen a nice arrangement of 51 stars. I think that if we change the U.S. flag again it should become detached from the one-star-per-state idea.
Better still, perhaps we can get rid of a state that we don't want anymore. Ideas anyone? The state with the worst flag maybe? No. The state that is the biggest drag on the US economy. Were it up to me I might join two current states into a new single state - Arkansouri for example. Where did I leave that Costco size roll of duct tape?
We could add Guam as a state... It's nice there. I personally liked it better than Puerto Rico.
There is little backing but I would like for Nevada to secede. The federal government holds over eighty percent of the land here so they think that they rule the state. Not OK.
To the right of the tree in the middle of the Vermont state flag there's a mointain called Camel's Hump. You know it's true cause otherwise there would be fewer camels.
Comedic gold! That cracked me up man.

You mean the federal govt doesn't think they rule Oklahoma?
Just kidding.
I totally hear you regarding the feds strangle hold on Nv. But you could always look at the bright side. The open space East of the overload for San Francisco and LA (Reno/Carson) might just dodge overdevelopment, Most all of the rest of the West seems to be getting hit pretty hard.
Man, the Muledeer hurd is really gonna suffer (even more than it already is) with all of the foothill developement along the Carson and Washoe Valleys. Major migration routes etc. Traffic is beginning to really suck too. I guess it's bound to happen with the quest for the almighty dollar. Don't get me wrong, big federal government is not a pallitable thing for me, just looking at the brighter side.
Soon those ranchers who are fighting the feds for their rights will be selling out to developers a little at a time until it's gone. Sad to see it change so fast from the good old days.
Back on topic, I do like the Nevada State Flag though. "Battle Born"
Well, I'm not sure how much I really care about the Arkansouri state flag, but what I was thinkin was that they could just glue two of thier current flags together...
Virginia. It's not real interesting or nothin but it's better than yours!
Not interesting? Not interesting? A bare breasted woman standing on the chest of a guy she just rammed her sword through? Her motto "Thus always to tyrants" underneath, and not interesting?
Actually, there has been a recent to-do on account of high schools banning t-shirts with certain sexual or violent images. Then someone in the school board meeting pointed out the flag standing behind the board and asked if that would also be banned in our schools, since it does have (a) a bare breasted woman (ooohh scary, kids!) and (b) a sword and a saying that basically is "try and tell me what to do and I'll kill you!" The t-shirt issue was dropped.
