AC compressor running????

AC compressor running????
Which positions of the heat/AC switch should the AC compressor turn on. I can hear my A/C compressor turn on when I have the switch set to mix and defrost with the temp set for max heat. It doesn't seem right that it should be turning on when I want hot air.

kinda a toss up though....here in Pacific NW we have to run the defrost thru the whole winter....sucks gas>good for oil companies...and spins that compressor for extra months wearing it out, good for compressor manuf.s

Not true, if the compressor is not used in the winter, then the oil will drain off the moving parts, and when you start it back up again in the summer. The result is leaks, and worn compressor seals. You could do the same thing to a car by letting it sit in a lot for a year, then starting it up and driveing it like you stole it without warming it up first.

I heard my ac compressor cycle on and off when I was doing my first SEAFOAM yesterday. Thanks Doug5G for asking that one. This is the only forum I have ever been on that can answer my questions BEFORE I even ASK them. Great Forum with GREAT MEMBERS. Thanks to all.
