I find it impossible to believe that you folks running 33's and no re-gear have not had performance issues. I mean unless you normally drive with the skinny pedal mashed into the floorboard anyway, increasing tire diameter nearly 2" over stock on the OEM 3.55 axle gearing just sucks your hill-climbing and passing power right out the window. And I don't care if you have a 351 or even done a 460 swap, the power production suffers.
At any rate the tire sizes that don't normally cause issues are listed in the FAQ's along with the necessary info for what to do if you really want to run that particular tire size as far as lift and/or fender and bumper trimming that may be required to achieve full clearance for the tires at full steering lock.
Square "thing" up front is a cooler/rod rack!
The lift consisted of new front springs and rear blocks etc..
Not the best, but what I could afford at the time.
Hey Streak !
How are you?
Haven't been on board too much in the past year or so.
Have a part time biz that's keeping me busy.
Yes,I've had some performance issues with the goodies I've done.A little lack of power uphill,yeah.Passing,no.
Have always kept my Bronc well tuned and it's performance, overall,is satisfying.
Been busy myself... not as much time for the boards here as I'd like but between the house and travelling for wokr lately, its tough.
On the re-gearing issue. I noticed the greatest defficiency during long hill climbs with mine. St. Louis has about five rivers converge within a 25 mile radius and rolling up and down the valleys gets tedious when she keeps hunting between 3rd and 2nd. Wreaks havoc on the fuel mileage too.
I can believe people are running 33's on the stock gears.. Hell I'm running 40's on the stock gearing.. Granted it's not the fastest thing and if you hit a hill yer SOL... That's why I upgraded the motor and I now have a set of 5:13's here waiting to go in..

I hope you have upgraded a lot more than your final gear ratio if your running 40's......

When I bought mine a year ago, it had the 33's 3" lift, air lockers, soft top, and hard top. Who ever owned this baby really cared for it. I don't know what the gear ratio is, but it can't be stock. I can beat anybody just about off the line, and I don't drive her over 65 MPH because at 65 she is at 3000 rpm's she has no problem passing and climbing hills. I wonder what ratio she has??

Make a mark with chalk on your drive shaft, and make a mark on your tire.......turn the tire one time all the way around, and count how many times the drive shaft turns around.
Thanks Streetgang, didn't ever think of that. Thats just like figuring out what your open face fishing reel has. So if someone has a 5.13 then that means his drive shaft will turn a litte more than 5 times to one turn of his wheel?

Yes that is a crude way to get a ball park idea of the gear ratio, but remember that it is not exact. I guess you could mark it off it equal increments and get it closer to exact.....but???
I am thinking and could be wrong, but if I can give you guys a close ratio my truck has you guys could tell me which rear end I have. Or is their alot of different ratios. example: lets say I tell you guys my drive shaft turns 4 and a little more than a 1/2. what ratio would that be. I would call it a 4.6, but is their a 4.6?
Sorry.....I know I am using the stock 3.55, and IIRC there is a 4.10......not too sure about what your exact best choices would be, but I know someone here will help out.

hey this is my truck and i was just wondering if a 3" lift with 33" tires and spacers would go well with what i have...im going for a certain look and i dont know i just want something a little bulky, wider stance, and not over done...tell me what you think and any ideas on what else i could do to make her look a lil better.. thanks
