Irok's are a good all-around tire. Good in rocks, but they do have somewhat weak sidewalls.
What is the intended purpose of your rig? That's what dictates your tire needs. An Irok is a great tire for rocks, but is bested by a bogger in the mud, or an SX on trailrides.
I've got the 36X13.50 Iroks on my 89 f-150, i'm really happy with how they pull in the mud, they wear decently as long as you keep everything alighened and all your ball joints, bearing, etc. i've had mine for 2 years and i'mjust getting ready to get a new set.
bigsexy63, about how many miles have you put on your 89 with the irocs on them.
I put a set of 36x13.5r15 iroks on my 79 bronco a few months ago, but I only drive it on the road about 1/2 mile to the mud, and then back after.
They are alot better than I thought they would be. I've yet to see a crawfish lake, duck lake, or rice field stop them. The amaze me while I'm in 2wd.
The lugs on both sides are directional for forward motion and have a very nice scoop.
MBBFord,
I'm not quite sure how many miles are on my Iroks right not, its somewhere around 10,000 miles I believe, i would have gotten alot more out of them but i was running bad ball joints and wheel bearings. so that had a factor in it. I too love how great they are in 2wd. I've put my truck in a couple mud boggs and they've hardly ever spun other than cleaning them out.
very highly recommend them if you dont plan to drive on the road much. they have super soft rubber like the boggers which is what makes them superb on the rocks.
no dot approved tire will pull like a bogger in the mud so comparing anything to the bogger is like comparing a tree to a planet.
the iroks do impressively well in the mud due to the very spaced out sidewalls... its hard for mud to stick. that also helps on the rocks... the tire is allowed to form over and around the rocks to grip like a hand and claw its way over an obstacle.
they have my vote, and they will be my next set of tire on the bronco
