I guess what i really need to do is ride in another truck with stock get-up and six speed. The only otherr psd Ive ridden in is dads F-450 with 11 ft. mechs. bed on it loaded to the T its also an auto. Turbo is always spoolin on it and just seems real alive. Any way thanks guys for the new info on the tests. you guys are cool. Autoengenuity seems to be the way to go.
FWIW my F-550 sounds better when it's working hard than at partial load. Even after all the work that I have done to the fuel system, and the huge improvements in the way it sounds. Full throttle, heavily loaded, WOT is when it has the least amount of cackle. The most is simply maintaining speed on the freeway on a slight uphill grade.
If you listen to the sound recording that I made of the WW pulling a hill 24k gross you can hear the engine working with a slightly uneven sound to it. Then right before the turbo spools up you can hear it even out, then the turbo kicks in.
kwik, thanks for that sound clip , im noticing the same things that you are. The motor greatly evens out just before and during boost. Im not pulling any wieght but do have a 4 door with eight foot bed, srw. Its got some wieight to it. Im with you though on the loading my psd down to make her work hard! They love the wieght. Im shifting alot and going throiugh the gears without even spooling -up. motor just goes through-out its rev paramiter with -ease. Fixed that clutch/throughout vibration ,revs out past 3000 easily , even though i never do-it. Its strictly an under 2000 truck. ALl- in All she needs wieght or ineed to get in the business of hualing to truelly appreciate the work horse I have.
