Hey Panteraboy, hows your sleep at night? i remember when i bought my truck, couldn't sleep for 2 weeks thinking about what to do next. Here it is 19 yrs later and i'm going through it all over again, ha! ha! ha! it never seems to end.
Its a Fiddytree and needs "a few mods" to make it mine. (SWMBO [1] is starting to wonder why the UPS driver stops every day . . .)
I can't access pics from work or I'd post one.

Agree on the wheels...rears are too wide too. If the tires are in good shape you could turn the white letters to the inside. The 3.50 would be fine if you go with an AOD tranny. Sounds like you may be in the market for a 460. Unless it rides really rough or the front suspension needs a rebuild the straight axle might not be too bad to keep. It has a nice stance...
The truck has a 9" ford - I've been concerned about the width . . .
Want to go with (in my far off dreams) 460/tremec this puppy may end up in competition on the salt.
Wonder if I should be shopping for a narrowed third member . . . hmmmm. Maybe I can get some wheels w/ different rear spacing.
Yep, the tires will be flipped very soon. great minds run in the same gutter.
thanks for the thoughts!

Get wheel with shallower offset, or have the 9" narrowed, cheaper than buying another rear axle, especially if you are planning on racing it you probably want stronger axles anyhow, narrowing the housing is inexpensive.
From the picture it looks like those wheels have a lot of offset to the outside. The housing width may be fine once you get the wheels changed out. Unless it came out of a van or 73-up truck I doubt if it would need narrowing
