Front bumper drooping

91 ranger

Thanks to some idiot in the parking lot not watching where they were going, my front bumper on each end and on both sides is hanging lower now. You can see where the center of the bumper was slightly pushed in.

The local body shop wants $100 to remove the bumper and straighten the brackets out. Can this be done at home? Or is it best left to the body shop?

It has a ghetto look now it never had before and maybe the areo dynamics of my new front ghetto spoiler will give me better MPG's!!! I may just leave it the way it is.

$100 isn't to bad but it is a '91. is the rest of the truck in good condition? if so i'd probably fix it because it would bug me otherwise!

Can you post a picture? You know maybe the brackets aren't bent. On my 92 the bumber used to droop on each side and it was just an adjustment. There's like a sort of bumper pivot bracket tightened by bolts at the frame, who knows maybe the hit only shifted the bumper and then you can loosen the bolts, reposition, and re-tighten. But I have no idea without seeing the truck, I'm just throwing that out there. Hope it's just a simple fix like this. My truck looks good now that I fixed it.

Goodluck

My ranger is a rust bucket, but i keep "her" very well maintained. $100 is a fair price, but it is not really worth it. But it does bother me everytime i look at it. I guess i need to get used to it.

I haven't got under the front end to look at the bumper brackets myself. Depending upon what i see, i might try to do it myself.

I'm not sure on how to post a picture in here. I have a digital camera, so i could take pictures. I'll let you all know what i decide to do.

I've seen what my friends an I call "Ranger Sag" on many Ranger front bumpers. It seems like a common problem.

It sure is, but you can adjust that, I did.

UPDATE:

While doing my oil change the other day i looked at the sagging bumper. I loosened the 2 bolts on the bracket, used my floor jack and a block of wood and lifted the bumper's corner end to the correct position. I tightened both bolts and proceeded to do the same thing to the other side of the bumper.

Ten minutes later, my front bumper was hanging straight again. I still can't believe how easy it was to fix. Thanks "Madmike33" for your information about the bracket adjustment! Now i can look at my rusty ranger again and feel good doing so!

No problem Hood, that's what we're here for. Glad you took a good look at the problem to realize it was an easy fix. Although I still wonder why ford made brackets like these, what a bad design.
