With Jody's chip, you'd have to run it pretty hard to get those temps. I had a hand-held tuner before and always had EGT problems. On Cookie's advice, I gave Jody a call and went to see him the next weekend to get one of his chips.

Before, I could hit 1300 quickly on a weaker tune(65hp) from the programmer. I could run Jody's 100hp tune and not hardly touch 1300 and have a lot more seat of the pants power and run smoother to boot.

I've since put a BB turbo on my truck and even tow a 37' camper on the 100hp tune and don't come close to 1300 degrees anymore. But I don't pull any long hills either. Mostly flat traveling and I drive it pretty easy when I'm pulling. It's just nice to have the extra juice when you do need it.

As for how much more mileage I get, I can't give an honest answer. I don't drag race it every time I get in it, but I'm also not keeping it below 2000 rpm and driving in a constant enough manner to get a decent gauge on any mileage improvements.

It's well worth the money you'll spend. If I was doing it over again, I would probably just get a 3 or 4 position chip. I rarely ever take it off the 100hp tune, but I guess it's nice to have a few other options if you want to.
