the truck is ain 83 f-250 300-6 4 spd....i have a head bolt that sheared off at an angle, basically flush with the block....have so far busted one EZ OUT off in the bolt....any other good ideas???
Could try welding another bolt to the busted bolt and try to extract it that way..the heat from welding on the other bolt can tend to help with breaking it free as well..Good luck
Strip it down to the bare block, put it on an engine stand and melt the EZ-out and bolt out of the block with an O/A torch. the steel bolt and extractor will melt long before the cast iron threads will be damaged. you'll still need to chase them with a tap though.
I usually try and weld on, but when it's flush like that is hard, but if you use a bolt that is smaller, just weld around where the treads are and you should be alrite b/c the weld doesn't like to bond to cast if you get off a little, then try, another thing I've done is just take the wire feed and built up a nube then weld a nut on, good luck, that sucks when that happens, but we've all about been there and done that, lol
