Will a down pipe from a 99 to '01 powerstroke come close to fitting a 97 powerstroke? Is the turbo connection flange the same. What is the stock diameter of a 1999+ turbo downpipe??
I thought I might get one used and modify it to fit as long as the diameter is larger and turbo flange is similar.
Stock 99-03 downpipe it 3", but it has very different bends, and isn't much (if any) better than the stock 94-97 pipe. The outlet flange is the same size.
You would be way better off with a good aftermarket pipe as I doubt the stocker would even be worth your time.
Scott's right you'll be cussing yourself for a long time trying to make it work. Especially when you look at the price of a 3 inch one like we sell. We have them in aluminized and stainless and we also have cat test pipes in both materials.

to clarify a couple things... the flange for the dp is 1/2" larger on the 99+ pipe as compared to the 94-97 pipe. therefore, either a modified flange would be needed to fit a superduty dp on a 94-97 truck, or weld the stock dp flange to the 99+ dp to make it fit on a 94-97 turbo. and any 3" round pipe is better than the stock 94-97 flattened downpipe
