One question,
Do you have to get the bumper to make the lights fit? I noticed they are a one piece unit now and I'm pretty sure you have to get the bumper to make the grille fit, but not sure about the headlights? You wouldn't happen to remember how much the lights were on their own would you?

There is at least one outfit on eBay that is selling a grille that has been modified to fit with the old bumper. But if you want to use the new headlights, you will have to have the new bumper. And for me, the headlights really make the difference.

Damn... I was hoping they would bolt right up... Guess I'll be retrofitting a projector into an 02 housing and just getting a grille. Probably will end up using an Infiniti Q45 Projector, should look pretty interesting to say the least

I believe its one of the biggest projectors so it should fit into our HUGE housings...

one other quick question...

Is the 05 grille plastic with a chrome finish over it? or is it metal? I would think its plastic, but you never know... I will want to paint mine and thats why I'm asking

I'd use a drop in kit and the Q45 projector... Hell the projector is $500 by alone! ugh...

About the bumpers, I'm not an expert so I'm not sure if you "have" to change the bumper. But I have read that some people have changed the headlamps to the 05 without changing the core support just by trimming the support, but I don't remember if they changed the bumpers. The headlamps cost me 148.55 each plus shipping. It's a little more than what was quoted since prices has went up.

There are 2 known sellers on Ebay that sells some modify grills on ebay that been modified to fit the 99-04 Excursions and Super Duty's. I thought about painting my grill but I'm happy with the look so far.

turboale, I'm not a Ford expert so I can't say if you have to replace the bumper or not. I read in serveral topics that some people didn't even buy the core support. they had trim the area where the 05 headlamp set but I don't remember reading if they changed the bumper aswell...The headlamps cost me $148.55 each plus shipping.

Well, not exactly.... there are a couple of outfits on eBay that are selling a modified '05 grille that will fit the '00-'04 Ex without changing the bumper. But, if you want the '05 headlights & corners, you must change the bumper. And to me... the lights make all the difference in the look.

rozett, yes, you do need the bumper....i was not talking about the modified grill. it is true, if you want the real grill, you MUST get the bumper....../.................
