i don't know about the 72 but my dad had a 76. it came with a hood ornament and speacial stripe's down the side and heavy duty supension. also had interior that was differant from stock
Thanks for the reply. Mine is old and beat up. If the suspension is "special" it would only be "Speical Ed" at this point. Nothing striking about the interior.
It was special back in 72. The Ranger and Ranger XLT were the top of the line trucks back then loaded with all the options (power steering and brakes, cloth seats, special paint colors, am/fm, bumper guards, mag style hub caps , a/c, tinted glass, rear sliding glass, and on and on.) The Explorer was the middle of the road set of trim packages of which there were 3-4. Package A had three options for paint with matching cloth seats, bumper guards, driprail chrome, special hub caps, and not to mention the Explorer Emblem. Then there was a Package B, C and D where B contained everything from A with a few others, and Package C was B plus things and same with D. That's where you got a/c and special glass. You should at least have a cloth seat in there, unless it's trashed and has been replaced.
Yep, cloth seat, the Explorer emblem, power steering, duel tanks, sliding rear glass. It was a goldish color inside and out, but blue now on outside. Originally manual, but is now auto. No evidence of an A/C and the radio was swapped out.
