Keyless entry/remote start

Hi all
Have a 99 super duty and want to add a keyless entry (key flop not door keypad). I see the remote start unit have a keyless entry and alarm. It is possible to just use the keyless/and+or alarm without hooking up the remote starter? I have a 5 speed manual.

I ask because that system is not much more than the system that just adds the keyless entry (F7AZ-54220K51-AA only keyless) . (ebay standards)

If you put in the remote start unit or just the keyless type do you program the same as a car that had a factory seup, IE turning the key on and off, to program extra remotes?

Thanks

keyless entry

the ford kits are made by code alarm now a part of audiovox. I have installed several of the ford kits and code alarm kits and there are some differences in the wiring. Ford does offer a kit with remote keyless entry and security which would probably be better for your application. I'm not sure if the unit would be effected by not hooking up the remote start option. To program the add on ford kits(and Code Alarm) you turn the ingnition on wile pressing a momentary push button(part of the add on kit) to access the feature menus. With both kits, the Code and ford, you will need a bosh type relay for the door locks and one more for priority driver's door unlock. Also, the ford kits do not come with instructions. The only place I know to get them is your local parts department.
I hope this helps and good luck

Yes. Only hook up the wires for the functions you wish to use. Complete installation and programming instructions are available at www.gemsen.com/ford I used these instructions with my Ford Gold system I got off e-bay. You will need two additional relays to go with the kit if your truck did not come with factory keyless. The part number for these relays is in the instructions hyperlinked above and are available from your Ford dealer for about $7.50 each.

you can't hook up the remote start option on any truck without automatic transmission. Highly not reccomended.
