Has any 2006 King Ranch Owners notice that ford no longer wraps the front and rear grab handles with the Castano leather. I have looked at 2005's and before on Ebay and they have it and 2006 don't. Is this another way for Ford to save a few bucks or am I missing something.
Is there a way to get this done. I have a 2006 KR on order and want the leather on the handles.
dhawk57,
I don't have a KR...I can only dream. However, why don't you replace the handles in your 06 with a pair from an ,05. A dealer or ebay may have a set. Good luck. I agree...the wrapped handles are the way to go. Congrats on the King Ranch.
i have on 05 and the pull handles are wrapped. yes i believe ford is cheaping out in many ways and this is just one. if you have seen the news or read any automobile mags ford is in big trouble financially and they are making cuts everywhere. their quality is suffering.
There is a guy on ebay that makes the wraps for all the handles on the 150, 250, and 350 King Ranch...as well as other KR goodies...well made product...just do a search for "King Ranch".
Just took delivery of my '06 King Ranch on 1/03/2006 ... I was blown away with the new Dark Copper color and 150" wheelbase with the 6 1/2 foot bed and 20" wheels, I never missed the leather wrapped handles. I think it would look great. I'll have to check on that eBay search.
My KR is awesome and no until you mentioned I had not noticed that it did not have leather wrapped handles. I did notice the guy on ebay selling the wraps, I think he calls himself Ranch King Leather products. Apparently because he got himself in trouble by using the King Ranch name. The stuff is a bit expensive though, he has a King Ranch trash can for $150.00, I think the $15 special I got will work.
I have ordered the same truck, same color with 20'wheels. But I am having the dealer take off the KR running boards and put on the chrome steps that come with the chrome package. I ordered mine 12/6 and do not have a build date yet. How long did it take to get yours. By the way the wheel base is 156". Post pictures when you can. Congrats.
I had not planned on getting the King Ranch, it was all due to chance. I had gone to a dealer the day before, trying to make the best deal I could on a Smokestone Lariat, and thankfully, never agreed on a price. Called another dealer who he said he could make the deal I was asking for. The truck I wanted was not available on the lot, but they would be able to get it from another dealer in town. BUT! They asked if I would be interested in the King Ranch at only $25 more per month. SOLD. It was just by chance that I went to that dealer on that day.
P.S. I will send pics soon of the truck as well as the sticker showing the 150" WB. Also the 2006 RV & Trailer Towing Guide shows 150.5" wheelbase.
Go to fords website, click on trucks then superduty then specs and the wheelbase shows as 156.2". I am also looking at a superduty brochure as I type this and it shows the wheelbase to be 156.2. better yet go measure your truck.

I had the tube steps on my last truck (03 F-250), they collected a lot of mud on the top. I hand to step on the mud to get in and out. Plus my pants would brush against the tube and get muddy. Now with the flat steps on my KR, I don't have step on the mud. Just me thought on the steps.
If you really want the leather wrapped handles for your rig, then I would recommend on getting the OEM ones that have been removed from 2005 and earlier King Ranches. I got a pair of the leather door wraps from the guy on ebay and they look god but do not completely match the OEM Casteno leather. Darker color and totally different grain. Congrats on joining the King Ranch family
