i'm so glad you like your new "MULE"..! LOL..! sorry to cause you to give her that name, but when you own a truck that can pull what these beasts of burden can pull, you can't really call it a horse can ya...? lol..!
What about ox? Naaah, mule somehow seems to sound more 'affectionate'.
There are two other items I will mention that seem like common problems, the throttle pedal assembly - engine is throttle by wire, and the under valve cover harnesses. The latter will cause a misfire. When the pedal assemblies fail, the truck will idle but won't go. I have had to repair both on my 99, less than 100k miles on it.
I second the 6-speed. Mine is an automatic. Hate automatics. After putting in a Factory Tech Accumulator valve body (you can do the equivalent for a fraction of the price with a Sonnax valve and spring kit), and a DP Tuner chip that (thankfully) alters the STOOPID factory torque converter lockup settings (who was the idiot that though unlocking the TC when the brakes are touched at ANY speed was a good idea? ) - anyway, I can now tolerate the automatic, though I will never like it.
i call mine "old number 7"..... anyone remember Grizzly Adams..?
WOW! That was back when Little House on the Prairie aired, back when I was in high school, back in the good ol' carefree days, back when .... <snif, snif> I'm getting old.... That guy Dan Haggerty always reminded me of my older brother.
Oh yeah, gotta have something on topic ....... weak point ....... yeah, your fuel costs will go up because you'll be finding all kinds of excuses to take your rig out for a spin, so MANY errands.

I understand that completely. "Gotta go to the store." Could take the wife's Honda - better mileage, easier parking - but, you know how it is. I HAVE to take the truck. And, since the store is only two miles away, I HAVE to drive it a little more to get it properly warmed up - an extra 10 or 15 miles or so ought to do it.
Suddenly, instead of the Honda using about 30 cents worth of gasoline, now I'm burning $2 to $3 in diesel. Of course, it is MUCH more fun!!
