Need Help / Write-Up PCV

I need to do my 90k service on my gf's 1999 Ford V6 4WD Explorer. I only know Volvos. Where is there a write up on replacing the PCV valve.

Or you can tell me how to do it.

is it hard.. how many man hours?

Somone else posted on this a few days ago. I do not know for sure but look behind the engine off the intake manifold between the ends of the valve covers. Something about a plastic Y connector that breaks easy, so be careful. Also something about leave it in place since it's so hard to reach and take the line off and squirt it with carb cleaner to just clean it, not replace it. May want to do a search for that thread.

It's on a small bracket at the back of the engine towards the passenger side. If you shine a flashlight towards the back of the engine when leaning over the passenger side fender you can see it. There are two hoses running from the upper manifold to a plastic tee conector. The pcv plugs into the bottom of the tee and they are not meant to come apart. The PCV valve plugs into a larger hose that comes up from the crankcase. The pcv valve is held to the bracket by a plastic squeeze clamp. Ford sells the pcv with the three hoses and tee and squeeze clamp for $46.00. It is almost impossible to get the new pcv valve into the plastic tee whithout breaking it. You can substitute a 3/8" plastic tee and a 3" long 3/8" hose if you break the tee.
