I'm stumped. I just noticed this the other day.
I get a very serious vibration around 35-45 mph WHILE IN NEUTRAL. It seems to go away when I put it back in gear. It seems like it's the front end, because I can feel the steering vibrating, but how could it be, if it goes away when in gear? There is some wear on the inside of the right front tires.
It seems like it must be the universal or the differential. Any guesses? (Clutch was rebuilt not too long ago by previous owner).
Well, this is a pure shot in the dark idea, but I would have to guess the bearings somewhere in the trans. I am not sure which, my best guess would be the input shaft bearing or the pocket bearing. If the input shaft is under a load (Breaking or Acceleration), then the bearing is forced to one side or another of the transmission case. When in nutreal, it is allowed to move freely in the bad bearing.
Like I said, it's a shot in the dark, but I hope it helps some.

I would say U-joints as well. Plus that is the first place I would check. Get under that truck and take a look at them, see if they have slop in them. If so then no big deal, just replace them and your set.
