I have a 1992 E150 5.0 with I believe an AOD automatic. 1DOD N R P The darn thing just starts slipping after moving about 100 feet, then like it is in neutral. Anyway the question is there is a PullaPart junk yard here and they have used transmissions really cheap. What models could possibly have the EXACT same transmission that I could R&R. Thanks Ken
When the AOD went out of my 92 Van, my trans expert told me while trans out of a Crown victoria would fit, the valving on a truck is different than a car.
I also learned the drum assemblies were changed in the AOD trans sometime after 1992 and quality older style components are no longer available . That required a drum upgrade. That being said, a newer trans maight be a cheaper rebuild down the road.
The AOD went out of production after '92, was replaced with the AODE. They share few components although the look much alike.
There were minor differences from year to year but you can swap between vehicle if the tailshaft and housing are the same. They match up with the application.
