4.6 bolt pattern

4.6 bolt pattern
I am looking at a used Crown Vic with 140,000 and a 4.6. The guy says the transmission is slipping, and from my understanding of these transmissions on this year (94) they had a sensor that would get moisture in it, and cause this.
As I am wanting a this or that contingency (replace the trans), is the bolt pattern the same as a 5.0? I am trying to find out what transmission are swappable, as I may have access to a couple (mustang w/5.0).
Looking for a project, that will probably be nephews first vehicle (cheap/semi dependable. and god forbid, help him survive when he has his first wreck).
