This is my first post to this forum, and I was looking for some help in locating my next project truck. Any and all help is appreciated.
The truck I am trying to locate seems pretty scarce. I'm trying to find a mid-to-late 70's Ford 4-door dually pickup. The only one I have found is actually in the town where I live, but it is extremely rough (rust). A couple of strong selling points for this truck is the fact that it is a factory automatic with A/C.
The ideal find would be a truck with a decent body even if it had major engine/tranny problems. I'm looking to restore to "nice weekend driver" condition. It will not be used as a work truck at all.
I appreciate any information / advice / pictures that any of you have. Also looking forward to hopefully becoming a regular member here once I locate my new "project".
Thanks in advance,

Stacey, buy the one in your town. I have never seen a truck like you are describing, so there may be very few of them. But I must ask, why is a factory automatic a good point? A manual tranny is better for anything you might ask a truck to do. DF

Maybe in your opinion...
I'm not going to get into an automatic vs manual debate here but when you pop off with ridiculous generalizations like that DF, you invite confrontation.
Automatics beat manuals for towing hands down, they're easier on the drivetrain because the torque convertor absorbs the shock which would normally go straight to the engine via the virtually solid connection of a clutch & pressure plate.

Went back and looked at this truck again last night and...
It's not a factory dually pickup. The pickup bed has been added at some point. Whoever did the job did a nice job with the inner fender wells and such, but the truck is in overall rough shape. It is not as rusty as I had first thought, though. Most of the body panels seem to be solid and the bed is solid. It is just covered with surface rust. The interior is pitiful.
Don't know if I'm allowed to do this on this forum, but I'll try to post a pic.
Stacy, Buy it, build it and save it. Floor rust can be repaired and the rest of the truck can be found in the junk yard. Besides this truck looks really good for a starter plus it is the truck you want. Just do it man!

The interior...well...let's just say that there is nothing wrong with the interior that about a gallon of gas and a match wouldn't fix. HaHa!

That was something else I was wondering about. Were these trucks F-350's or F-300's? I'm guessing F-350.
Anybody know of good sources for parts like interior pieces and weatherstripping for the 4-door version?
That's what I'm most worried about. I know parts are readily available for the 2-door trucks (interior and exterior). But where the heck do you find resto pieces for a 4-door?
