I'm just another Ford fan from SW Wyoming. I'm hoping to drop in from time to time to ask questions related to a project truck I'm working on.
The truck is a 76 F250 Hi-boy. I'm 2 years into a frame-apart restoration/customization. The basics are:
Dana 60's front and back with Detroit lockers.
Skyjacker Lift.
Custom drivelines.
Rock Rod tie rod on top of the steering knuckles.
AGR (chevy, sorry) power steering to replace the funky Ford one.
Crossover steering.
Corbeau seats.
Stroked Tunnel-Port 427 side-oiler.
Lots of other stuff.
My question is this: Did Ford put a fuel tank between the frame rails behind the rear axle on the 73-76 narrow frame? I've been to several junk yards and can only find them on the 73-76 2-wheelers and the 77+ 4 wheeler (wide frames).
I have a 76 F-150 and I believe the tank is behind the wheels between the rails. I just bought it and haven't worked on it much other than to find out the engine is better suited as a boat anchor.
Dave,
79 F-150 4x4, 390 w/C6, Edelbrock carb, 33X12.50 never will be finished.
