When I was shopping for my new SD, the cab lights were a necessity. Not because I think they are a necessity for the truck to be sefe in traffic or whatever, just because I think they look cool. I think it completes the look of a super duty and thats why I wanted and got them.
I agree with CustomZ. I bought my truck thinking that I would not like the cab lights on my KR but after seeing some other KR's and other SD out there with them, I will install them after I get back from Afghanistan. They complete the look of the truck and I believe in the safety factor too. You can always notice a truck with cab lights coming your way.
People don't tend to pull out in front of me (as often) at night since I got this truck with cab lights. I guess they think twice when they see all those lights. I definately think it's a good safety feature for night. Plus they just look cool.
yes they come on anytime your parking lights are on and stay on naturally when you switch to headlights . I put them on every truck I have ever owned . During the day you have the sun light making your truck and all of the work you have done to it look good but at night everything is dark so they kinda brighten things up ab bit
Mine did not come with them. I am looking for some that look OEM but with amber LEDs and smoked lenses. I tried Recon but they only had the bulbs and covers. Said I had to buy the Dodge kit if I want to add them. NOT!
The installation is not bad. Get a harness from ford and it's easy, it plugs right into another harness behind the passenger kick plate. Look here for step by step instructions with photos.
It took me a while to get the nerve to start a mod that required making 15 holes in the roof, but when I finished it turned out to be a very rewarding experience. Go for it!
just wouldn't be the same without them. I replaced the yellow lense covers with the smoked lenses from Recon... even looks nicer than it did with the stock ones! Must have item on a Super Duty!
