that is what I have used on my frame and Im going to be using it on the cab too.
I got a deal on the Encapsulator but it was red Oxide.. then I painted over the fram with chassie black worked great.
The surface must be prepared properly. This stuff loves a rough surface. I thought this stuff was fantastic, and the fact that you can't get it off your skin made me think it would coat and cover everything. Not so - if you use it over a painted surface with no prep work, it will peel. I did the tops of the fenders inside the engine bay which were painted and when I washed it up after a couple of months the pressure washer made it peel. I used the prep solution before the POR 15 but didn't sand.
I should be in good shape everthing that I am spraying is sand blasted. I just sprayed the cab and didnt have enough so Ill be headed to Eastwood tomorrow.
Ill be getting black this time
I still have to touch up some spots with a rattle can, its hard to get the gun into some spots.
Uhh... Tom that you are not supposed to do that.......................read the cans directions. the rust encapsulator can only be top coated with compatible products, within a short time frame......LOL
...... well Ill check into that..... I hope I didnt miss that.... Oh boy
I am pretty sure that it states that you can do body work over the R.E. so I didnt think that it would be a problem. I have done my frame with this same stuff and then did chassie black over it and I has been good sitting outside since last fall (done in 04) I am not totally sure you are wrong but I really hope you are. Im going to eastwood tomorrow and Ill check.
I never used the stuff under paint as an underlayment. Only used it on floor pans inner fenders and frames where it didnt matter for top coating with standard coatings.
