If I recall the 97 is the goofy year where Ford started changing stuff, including the bolt pattern on the wheels. If you have the later hubcentric wheels with the the metric pattern then the Humvee wheels won't work. The earlier 8x6.5 trucks will but as BFR pointed out they have a huge amount of backspacing that can end up hitting stuff while steering, plus looks goofy.
they didnt go to 8x170 mm until jan of 98(when the 99 superduties started selling), they are the right bolt pattern, but they wont bolt on because of all the backspacing....lots of people have them recentered by places like stazworks or 66cj dean, and they make great wheels
They have 7" backspacing because of the rig they were designed for. The Humvee is already so wide at the axles (I assume for stability).
I used to be dead set on buying an H1. Then I watched them try to wheel and get stuck in places that Toyotas were crawling through. They definitely have their advantages including being able to sidehill like nobody's business but for a fraction of the cost you could build a wheeler that is so much more capable for overall wheeling. They're great for what they were built for but not for what most of us would try and do with them.
dude I want the H1 cause you can do some much stuff with them. Like I have no idea how it works or the appropriate name for it but you can lock out any of the wheels you choose. say I want the front right and the rear left to have power and no other and such. If I bought one it would be usaed more off road then on. and yea the price tag of 130k for the one I want is kinda steep ok its freaking HIGH as hell
dude I want the H1 cause.....I'm freaking HIGH as hell
I love making quotes out of context You could build yourself a rig that could outperform the H1 in every category hands down for far less than half the price of the H1.
