The funding has to be towards the North Carolina chapter. If we were to take the money in as profit, then FTE (national) has the rights to the profits in order to assist in the costs of providing this website, etc.
The original plan was to create a statewide chapter as a whole, and depending on where the members came from, then we would look into creating regions. But the first thing is to have 5 members signed on, or we will not be recognized as an actual chapter.
If we get together in the near future, I'll bring along the notes I have from our previous attempt at organizing the chapter and you can see what issues we discussed (organizing, membership packages, apparel & decals, etc.). I'd be more than happy to be a part of it and help out anyway I can, as a membership chair or even doing the website work, but someone else will need to take the lead at this point.

Well, sounds like we might be starting to get something off the ground.Art , could you give more info on what needs to be done as far as FTE and such.I understand the part about them getting the funds, but I'm sure theres some kind of sign up fee or something? Also sounds like Firefighter might make a good lead man.Lexington is a little far , but ,sounds to me like there are more guys from down in that area,so thats ok with me.We might even could even have a meeting or two down at Tarheel Q down on 64,I think they have other clubs that hold meetings there.Sorry for such a long post , but ,I'm excited about this.

OK, here's how it was explained to me...
As a state chapter, we are allowed to charge membership dues and sell products which carry the chapter name. All the proceeds from those sales must go directly to the chapter treasury in order to pay for chapter outings, membership packages, etc. If any of the members should sell the products and receive a profit from it, then the national organization has the right to step in and take a percentage or all profits from future sales to help support their end of things.
We are not required to pay anything to the national chapter, so long as the group is non-profit. What a few of us discussed was to set up chapter dues in return for a membership package (shirt, hat, decal, membership card). Any remaining money would help to offset the cost of our outings. Members would pay a reduced rate to participate, while non-members paid slightly more. There were also some other benefits to membership that we can discuss later.
Hey Fastford59...your post doesn't seem so long now, huh?

Seems straight forward to me.Will we be able to use Bi-Laws set by FTE?
Also how much membership fee be? And how do we elect officers? And What else do we need to do?

also if we decide to have in lexington i will see if i can find out if we need any permission from the owners of the parking lot where wal mart was at there is a number on the buliding i will call and see and if we all vote on where to eat i can also see about arranging a resturant for our group also, we would need a date and a time and all, i know the only day i have is sundays. i have to work 6 days a week but if i have a far enough date i might be able to get a saturday. just though i would keep that in mind. so everyone that wants to attend we need to take a vote and get a list of all that will attend and what foods we want to eat. lets get this old ford group a rolling
