Well you do have a rare truck. Ford didnt start offering crew cabs from the Ford factory till 74, and I dont think that Ford made the F-350 a 4x4 until late 78 or 79. Sounds to me like you have a truck that was put together by a custom shop. As far as the Super Camper Special goes, F-350's were available as super camper specials since 73. This was just the package for the truck that made the camper towing nice. Only F-350 to get rear shocks I might add. Also got dual batteries, camper wiring, sway bars, higher output alternator, bigger radiator, that sorta thing. I have a 74 F-350 Super Camper Special, and I tell y aI love this huge beast. Currently in the process of a heart transplant, but even in pieces it looks as tough as it ever was. Got yourself a helluva truck there. Enjoy it.

luv70sfords, THANK YOU for responding.

Is there a website or avenue that gives FORDS production history on specific models of pickups going back to this (73)year???

Now you`ve really got me wondering if this is a chopshop special, since he did say that the previous owner or owners to him, had put a 79 doghouse & bed on it during one of the restorations. This truck had originally came from California.

The title is not very revealing & the VIN# does`nt match to the door tag... I recognized this a day after purchase and was told by the previous owner that the doors were also off of a 79...

This is getting interesting to say the least>>>(LMAO)

Look on the passenger side frame rail for a VIN number. Might have to clean up the frame with a wire brush, but its there. So long as that number mathces, your fine, but remove the tag that doesnt match, it can cause problems with an HP officer that doesnt wanna look at the frame. I cant think of any websites, but post the vins online, we can decode them, see what info they offer. Lemme know what ya find.

Hi guys & gals, been off doing research on the origin of my truck & verified my suspicians.
I`m the owner of a "GOOD LOOKING FRANKENSTEIN"

First, I`d like to say to Darrell, thanks for the info,

But, I`ve had a Rep from the Research Unit of the Customer Relationship Center, a department of the Ford Customer Service Division, of the Ford Motor Company, send me a letter with the answers that I was looking for.

First off, From the letter, Ford introduced the Crewcab pickup in 1965.
Darrell, you was close in that the Supercab was introduced in "74".

This Rep was able to give me, this info from their records, and my VIN#
F26 = F250 4X4
Y= 360 2V (Now it`s a 390 4v)
C= ONTARIO TRUCK ASSEMBLY PLANT

R62059= UNIT NUMBER

From this unit number, they were able to tell me that this truck;
Originated 3/26/73 with a 133" Wheelbase/NOT the 166" that I have, now.
Candy Apple Red exterior paint
Styleside pickup/NOT crewcab that I have now.
Black cab & trim
GVW 7,700lbs
New process 435 4-speed transmission
3,500lb Dana-6CF Front axle
4.10 Limited slip rear axle
9.50x16.5-8 TT tires, standard tread
Spare tire
Dual Chrome Swing Lock Western Mirrors
Power Booster (Don`t know what this is?)
55Amp Alternator
70Amp HD Battery
Rear Step Bumper

Now that is SIMPLY AMAZING TO ME, that Ford could give me the factory build sheet from their archives, from my "Unit Number".

Could someone tell me where I can find out what these numbers mean ?
These were also on the badly damaged door tag;
VINF26YCR62059 <(This I Know, Now)
133 T or I F252 4 4 A B47 <(What is this ???) 03700 47 <(What is this ???)

LAST EDITED ON 04-Sep-01 AT 10:50 PM (EST)[p]The 133 is the wheelbase. The F252 is the model code and gvw.(I beleive that makes it an F-250) The T or I should be a paint code. AB7 should be interior and seat and body/cab type. An G would be the trans code. An 38 would be rear axle followed by an 5 for the front axle if equiped. I don't know how to define what the codes are, only what each digit stands for. Sorry.

Ronan, What you said and what he said about crew cabs is two different things. Read carefully what he wrote about the crew cabs. The early ones were not built in Ford assembly plants.
