Structural Integrity ?
Ok well for those who know my 75 F-250 4x4's frame is rotten pretty bed reight behind the cab and will need to be reinforced before i put a box back on the truck, well I really like shortboxes better than longboxes and a 3/4 ton 4x4 shortbox would be awesome in my book, well heres what I want to do, I just parted out a 77 F-250 4x4 and have not much more than a frame and busted up cab left. I want to chop 3 feet off the back off the 77's frame, now i have 2 3'' pieces of straight frame now torch cut it down the middle making it about the same height as the inside of my frame rails, now I cut the 2'' of rotten frame out of my 75 and put my 3'' of frame rails inside the 75's frame and clamap it all up and make sure the wheelbase is the same on bothides and everything is square and true and weld it all up real nice like, now i have a cut and welded frame, do you think its safe and strong ? I use to have a freind who did this to a shivvy and he wont off roading with it and everything I lost contact with him but im not sure that he even put the additional metal in the frame to strengthen it up and it held great, please give me some feedback on this guys
