Waljon,
I don't have any numbers. But the turbo is nice and loud now where before it was beinig muffled by the stock intake box. At the same time I did this mod I did loose my kittly too. Both in conjunction definately give you a quicker spool up time. I like the sound, like the feel, and I do track my mileage and it did jump 1.2 mpg on the next fill up. Any aftermarket intake setup is better than the stock setup.

Thanks for the compliment.

1997F-350 you got a nice set up too. I think yours was the first one I saw when I was research'n to do my own. I went a step further cuz I wanted to ditch the factory flex pipe on mine.

You used to live in FL right? Did you just recently move?

OK, Now I have to decide on 33 or 45 bend, like the looks of both. I did already order my 6637 and other filters from FleetFilter. Where do I get the clamps you guys are using?

Brians97F250Crew, where did you get your 4" rubber coupler?

Dirty .....

I got my coupler and clamps from a local parts house called "Big Truck Parts" They supply all big rig stuff.

I did have to trim off a little of the pipe cuz it was too long. Just to let you know but it was only like 2-3 inches.

the advantages are more power and better gas mileage. The best setup is with a heat shield that seals to the underside of the hood.

hey guys, i have recently decided to build my own too, and i bought a 45 bend from a big rig place. The way i did it was a little different, and i was wondering what you guys thought about it. the only pipe they had was a 4 inch with an end flared to fit over a 4 inch, and then just a 4 od on the other side. the flared side fits over the metal factory piece about 2-3 inches. I decided to use a 304 stainless exhaust band clamp to squeeze the flared in really tight around the factory piece. the band clamp is like 3 inches wide. Do you guys think that the seal is good enough. It was so tight that it actually held the wix filter up and it now pulls air from every direction since its not resting on the flat spot where the air box used to be. Im a little new so if i can figure out a way to take a picture ill try to show yall, since im pretty bad at explaining things. Also the sound improvement is awsome, you guys were dead on the money!

Get an intake system. they are custom built for your truck and some come with a cold air box.

If your worried about it sealing tight.. go to a hardware or advanced or somthing and get yourself a tube of silicone gasket maker. and lay a bead of it around the pipe and then clamp it. it should seal nicely. but make sure it dosent squish into the intake pipe and have it go into your turbo fan.
but that should work nicely.

i see. i just wasnt sure that a tbolt clamp would squeze the flaired end tight enough to seal it evenly. Since it was metal on metal i just wasnt sure if it would seal nice and tight. I have just seen a lot of exhaust pipes crinkle when tightend by a narrow clamp and have small exhaust leaks. I see you still have your air temp sensor, could a person just tap a hole into the plastic end of the filter (not the neck end), and install it there if it was sealed good?

Another plus is that they run close to 300 bucks! While the one being talked about will cost you 50-100 dollars.

the DUB-air runs close to 400 bucks! I am sure some people don't mind paying for quality and show looks...I buy the best in electronics, car equipment, and anything I am into.
