Ok heres the problem. About a month ago my truck just died while driving down the road. I took it to the dealer and they looked at it and found out that my fuse for my ecu or something like that was burned out(it was the #30 fuse under the dash and it had a 30 amp fuse in it). They replaced it and it ran fine. They said that my aftermarket chip that is in there might be the problem cause he said that he couldn't find any other shorts. Well it did the same thing to me today and i replaced the fuse and now it runs fine again. I would like to know how to take the chip out, cause i've here that if you do it wrong it can mess up you computer. Any other info that you have about my problem would be great to. Thanks in advance
Unplug the electrical plug on the bottom rear of the fuel filter housing. That will disconnect the fuel heater until you can get it fixed. Your water in fuel sensor will be disconnected as well when you do that.

If the cover has been modified so that you can access the chip without removing the PCM, then all you have to do is make sure the key is not in the ignition.
If you have to remove the PCM there's not really any danger. Disconnect the batteries, remove the PCM, remove the cover, remove the chip.
My truck shut off out of no where the other week also. I had no clue why it shut off, but after that I just turned it back on and have not had another problem with it. Any takers?
Probably your CPS there, Lova. Check the thread on the IH 'blue' CPS. The camshaft position sensor is one of those things that's guaranteed to go sooner or later on these engines. If yours is OE, or hasn't been done in a while, that'd be the first place I'd look. Also, check for DTCs - a faulty CPS will usually throw a code, but won't necessarily light up the check engine light, especially if it's an intermittent problem.
