Gold is good for 100,000 miles and you don't have to put any additives in. You MUST do a complete flush if you go with gold, I think there is a tech article here on how to do it.
A coolant filter isn't a bad idea, dieselsite for 80 bucks.

3. The gold is an extended life coolant. It last's 100,000 miles and does not require the use of supplimental coolant addative like the green does (like Steve_250 said).
With the green coolant you will need to add coolant additive. Napa has some along with the test strips. Make sure you use distilled water when mixing with antifreeze.
Rotella ELC in my y2k 110k miles, haven't bought any SCA since 55k miles!! You GOTTA do a complete flush if you change to an ELC. Pull the block, wp drains, and flush untill completely clear. Add your Rotella and you're good to go for longer than you'll keep the truck.
BTW!!!! Make darn SURE that GM or some other oil changer doesn't add any 'universal' coolant or you'll contaminate the whole thing and need to go back to adding SCA's again!!!

orange is not to be used. most orange coolants are dexcool . also rotella elc costs 16.00 a gallon here and the regualr green costs 7.00 so i just use the green and change it every 2 years.
I have a tech article on my site on how I flushed and changed to the ELC coolant along with putting in a coolant filter and a 203* tstat. I went with the Zerex G-05 because it was handy and I dont plan on running the same coolant for 300,000 miles. LINK
