Stock shocks - expected life?
My 02 explorer has 158 K kilometers (98K miles) on it and still has the original/factory shocks. How long can I expect these too last if the vehicle is not thrashed ?

they might be bad or not, might go another 98k...who knows how long?...if u r going to keep it awhile then i would get some edlebrock or bilsteins shocks...oem suck as well as most of the other shocks try to sell (pretty much all the same only different color, name, box, etc)...i think if u got some quality shocks u will be amazed in the difference

My 03 Dakota Quad cab needed new shocks @ 30k miles, SO, I would be surprised if new shocks would NOT make a difference for your ride. My Dak used to let the back end kick out on it on a few bumps around here. Not a lot of fun @ highway speeds. My 98 Expy didnt really need new ones @ 80K, but I did them anyway. I like the ride better with the new Reflexes, but it handles pretty much the same.
