Replacement stabilizer shock

My stabilizer shock has at least 40k miles on it (maybe lots more) and I think a new one is in order. All the 4wd parts are off of an '06. What stabilizer shock should I get for some seriously large, heavy tires? Thanks.

I have used a dual Fabtech DirtLogic setup for a long time with great results. If you want to replace the stock unit first try a Bilstein unit.

I looked up Bilstein and found the 5100 unit, but based on pictures I found, it appears to not be the one for the trac bar (panhard bar). Am I missing something?

On the coil spring suspension the steering damper mounts to the drag link on one end and the chassis on the other. It has nothing to do with the track bar. I have a Bilstein 5100, it seems fine. The big dual kits seem to mount to the tie rod. The main reason that the dual kits work better on highly lifted trucks is the angle of the drag link and stabilizer gets quite high on a lifted truck. That angle reduces it's ability to exert force. The tie rod stays where it always is, and dampers mounted to it can exert maximum force.

That's what I looking for. Your tires look pretty big too, so that should cover mine as well. I assume you gave no lift?

Mine is barely lifted at all. It's a 2wd conversion and they had to lift it slightly to get the shock towers to fit in right. I'm concerned about the dual shock kits and clearance. Lifted truck, in addition to needing them, have room for them. I don't know for sure that mine does.

Well, that might be a problem. Were you saying that this stabilizer was on your old truck or you current one? Would that same shock work on an unlifted '06? I hope so, since I ordered one this morning!

I still have the same truck, just the pic is a bit older from what I have done since then. I bought the Bilstein a few months ago. Since the Bilstein mounts in the OEM location it's going to work on a unlifted truck.

What year truck are you mounting the stab on??

The truck is an '03, but I converted it to 4wd using ALL PARTS from an '06 FX4. So anything that will work on an '06 undercarriage will work on my truck.

The Bilstein stabilizer will not fit then. There is a frame mount bracket that is required on the passenger side.

My truck already has a stabilizer, I just need to replace the shock in it. This Bilstein unit won't fit the stock bracket?

I'd need a pic to be sure I understand what you have installed.

Truck's not here right now or I'd send you one, but MC5C described in post #4 of this thread. It runs side to side on the truck, higher up on the passenger side than on the driver's side, IIRC.
