I stumble out of bed in the morning and turn the computer on first thing, then go through my email thread notifications and new posts till it's time to leave for work. When I return home I boot up again and am generally on and off till bedtime. I guess that pretty much counts as twice a day...
Weekends, sometimes I'm here all day, sometimes for a few minutes every now and then depending on whether or not I actually have something else to do that day as well as the motivation to do it.
Yeah, I have a life...right now it seems to revolve around FTE!
I used to be here so much is was almost like a JOB! Oh... yeah.. I was moderating this forum and two others... it WAS a job. I have so many other hobbies and such that I just had to make time for them also. I still like to come here as often as I can and read posts and sometimes even reply. This is definitely the nicest Ford Truck forum on the net. AND... there are some mighty nice folks who come here too. It's been a pleasure and a privelege to get to know folks here. If time ever allows, I may ask about moderating again..but hard to tell. Right now, I'm really getting into a hobby that I'd almost forgotten about and finding that I'm having a ball with it. One day... heck ... I'll probably sit here for hours at a time again..just reading and goofing off.
I've seen a lot of forums develop and die out over time on the web.
I can honestly say that I have watched 'nasty' forums shut down, and the majority of forums who intend to be around for a while grow up and adopt at least some form of minumum standards.
I have seen great forums die off, because the company behind them just plain folded - and that is a thing I never want to see happen to FTE! (THAT is why I am a supporter)
I've watched HACKERS finally be driven if not offline, then at least into there own personal corners of the internet, where they can trash themselves while the rest of us move on to better things. An internet that was acceptable and uniquely helpful for all of us, no matter where we are from...
I LAUGHED when "theglobe.com" went under - because it was one of the most amateur hacker ridden sites online that I had ever seen! They deserved to be rubbed out, and it was a long time coming.
I have watched online communities evolve...
THEY ARE MADE OUT OF PEOPLE!
Not just a paraphrase from the old movie series "Planet of the Apes", but an honest observation. YOU AND I sit down at our computers, and MAKE Club Ford Truck Enthusiasts just what it is. We write, and sometimes we rant and whine. We kibbitz, and joke, and very often we have the jewel of an idea that saves one of us a whole hoard of cash! Or a new way to do something, or a way to go faster - the list is literally endless.
I came to FTE because it was the chart topper on a web search I made, when I bought a truck that I knew immediately had trouble. I knew that it needed to be completely different than it was, and I wondered what the best it could be was.
In my mind - I was seeing a dream of a MUD TRUCK.
I went into the whole thing certain that I was an inexperienced idiot, with a lot to learn....
What I already knew, helped a lot of others here. And what I did NOT know - was freely given to me
It wasn't my first ford, it wasn't my first IC engine or driveline. All the machines I had worked on before taught me things, and I found a community that was not only decent to one another - but that shared info and stories.
"We teach eachother - so that we can all learn"
Somehow, everything came together here.
I really don't have an answer as to how and why the "CHEMISTRY" of FTE works out just like it does. Maybe I should have said "KEN-istry", as in Ken Payne. I dunno...
I do know it works!
And I cannot help coming here, even if to find a puzzle someone has in front of them with their truck, that maybe I can help solve...
I never could avoid trying to solve a puzzle. Puzzles are my "CANDY"

PS: And if I can't afford the parts for my own heap of steel, I might as well help you with yours!

At work I have 3 computers on my desk and one is usually on FTE. I sometimes get far to caught up in my own little world and forget the planet is much bigger. FTE and the variety of the people and opinions helps remind me that there are other ways of thinking and doing things. And if your willing to open your mind, you just might learn a thing or two.
I am not addicted, i can quit any time. I just have to read one more topic, while i am here i might as well reply to it. Oh look i know the answer to that topic, one more reply wont hurt, its already way past my bed time. Stop the insanity. HEHEH.
No Dennis... by the looks of that avatar..which I happen to love... you are actually pretty IRREGULAR! Anyone with a hairy body from head to bootay..hmmmm.... yep..irregular.
not a regular just yet but im getting there, now that ive had the new computer up and running for a while i usally check in every night kindof late. i like to leave FTE running in the background as i go about looking at other things on the web, it gives me something to read as i wait for this extremly slow dialup to load another page. i love FTE and all the info its givin to me. i started out as oldred82 in late 03 i think, but it wasnt untill a couple of months ago that i really got into posting. keep up the good work and keep this awsome site running forever its great to hang out with all you guys
