last night i replaced the oil temp sensor and installed the ihp crossover oil pipe. hoping that the oil temp sensor was the smoking problem, but no luck still puffing away. so went in the house with my head down from being defeated again with the smoking problem so i decided to watch some tv. then decided to search this forum and hoping that i would find answer seaching and reading away and came across the thread about the cps and reading on how it controls timing, so i thought about it and said if it controls timing that means the pcm would add more fuel, that being said i changed the cps sensor and holy sh#% it stopped smoking and idles perfect like a champ drove it all day and nothing. smooth driving and better power band. the best thing was last night when i was installing the oil temp sensor looking in the engine valley there was a briight pink sticker that jumped out in my face and i read it. it said remain oil injection pump and then i was looking harder and saw the fuel pump was shiney and new looking. (bonus) I like to thank the supporters of this forum for all the help you all are a big help thanks
I have heard that it's a good idea to keep a crank position sensor in your glove box. They are cheap(how much?), They are easy to install(tell us more, Puffer) and they are a common cause of dead-on-the-road breakdowns. Just my $.02.
the cps goes for about $120.00 and it takes a 10mm wrench and a little pry bar to nudge it out (if its been in there a while). i still cant beleive that all my problems were from a dam cps sensor. if anyone has this problem try this sensor first.

Like Jake said....The vast majority of the time a bad CMP sensor will just make it die. That's great work figuring it out, I'm glad you got her running right finally.
