Unhappy need help with flashout codes

Howdy all,

I am new to this forum.. I have spent the last 2 years in the 80-96 forum and finally decided to make the jump to EFI.

I have an 89 f-250 with a 351.

I had a new Longblock from ford installed (along with water pump, radiator, oil pan, and heater core. once I got the truck running I had to replace the Map sensor, 1 injector, and the alternator. the problem that I have now is a complete lack of power. there is no miss, fuel pressure is good, vac pressure is good. I replaced the stock exaust last week... eliminated the cat and installed 2 high flow trubos. so I know it has no problem breathing. I have checked the timing 3 times and it is correct (Yes, I unhooked the spout when I did the timing)

I did the self tests today (koeo and koer) and got the following codes

KOEO: 11
132
95

KEOR: 44
32

One of the KOEO codes is in my Haynes manual. it said "fuel pump failure" but this makes no sense because during all of the road testing I did with the fuel pressure guage hooked up it never gave a bad reading.

neither of the KOER codes is in the Haynes manual.

we checked the plugs and they look like I am getting good combustion.

If it was a carbuerated motor I would say that it feels like the timing is retarded.

Can anyone Identify these "Mystery codes" for me and does anyone have any other suggestions on what to check.

I have am starting to think that mabey the ignition control module (On the distributor) is sending a bad reading but I have no Idea how to test it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

It sounds like timing as well. Might want to try to advance it a couple degrees and see if it improves. There is a list of codes here: http://fordfuelinjection.com/codes . The 132 should be just a 32 - all the codes will have the same number of digits. If you have an E4OD transmission, I think the 95 is related to that. Let us know what you figure out.

KOEO codes:
code 32 = EVP circuit below minimun voltage (EVP is EGR valve position sensor)
code 95 = Fuel pump secondary circuit failure EEC to ground (relay resistance)
KEOR codes:
code 44 = Thermactor air system inoperative right side
code 32 = EVP circuit below minimum voltage

Maybe your EGR valve position sensor is bad. Don't know if this would affect power or not. Hope this helps.

thanx for the website epncsu2006.... I will check it tomorrow....and I have a c-6 trany...... any other offers of help or any other suggestions will be a great help....

As far as the KOER CODE 44 : Thermactor air system inoperative right side does that have anything to do with the air pump and the Sapgetti-mess if tubing that was eliminated when we replaced the motor????

You might be able to get the ignition module tested at an auto parts store like AutoZone or O'Reilieys

First off I would clear the codes, the KOEO codes 32 and 95 are memory codes, (by the way make sure that wasn't code 13) so they're not your top concern right now. Drive around after you clear them and see what codes you get.

For the KOER codes.
Code 44 yea it deals with the air injection mess you pulled out
and Code 32 is the egr position sensor, i would check and make sure the egr isn't stuck open and if you can reach it go ahead and spray some throttle body cleaner, the EVP is prob going to need replaceing

Could you go into a little more detal about what's wrong?

FarOffTheTrack,

Yes I can go into more detail... the truck suffers a great loss of power once it gets warmed up. I checked the EVP sensor today and according to the test values (Haynes Manual) it is okay. We unhooked the egr vac line(and plugged it) and electrical connecter. then we took it for a test drive... it was noticably better.

let me see if I understand the EGR System correctly... under load (upper rpm/highway speed) the EGR valve opens up allowing recirculation of Exaust gas into the intake. This mixes the exaust with the fresh air/fuel mixture entering the motor for combustion. is this correct???

Also, at what point is the vac applied to the egr valve to open it??? will it cause any problems to just run with it unhooked???

Gotta go, I will check back later

Correct, The recirculated exhaust gasses reduces combustion temperatures which helps reduce NOX emissions. It is closed at idle and start up and opens at RPMs when the engine is warmed up and proper Air/Fuel mixture is less important. If it becomes stuck open, the egr valve (or in this case the EVP) can act as a vacuum leak. Seeing as how you have checked everything if this isn’t the problem, I'm not quite sure what to tell ya. How do the plugs look? Even though it’s a new motor you might want to do a compression test again if you haven’t already. Is there more than one timing pointer on your block, if yes are you sure you used the right one. I know it’s a stupid question but I had to ask. I assume you also checked the ignition timing advanced with engine speed. Maybe someone will come along with some more ideas. Sometimes these problems have the simplest solutions.
