Hi,
My check engine light came on 9-29-05, and no one at Ford can fix it. I have taken my 03 F-150 w/ 28,000 miles to 3 different Ford dealerships for a total of 6 visits and without my truck for 39 days, plus it runs worse now that before the repairs started. The selling dealer has tried 3 times, and has involved the Ford tech 800 line people during the last two attempts. I tried two large dealerships in my area, and they quit on it after 4 days without curing the problem. I am still under the 3/36, and have nowhere to turn. The customer 800 line on 1-11-06 said to take it to any dealer, and they could fix it !! They were no help. Any advice??
Oregon has a Lemon Law when the vehicle is under warrant. Three times in for the same repair they have to buy your truck back. Does you state have the same law?
Whats the code? Not that I think we'll have better luck than the dealer, but you never know. I think it's time to go back to the dealer and tell them you need a truck, and call Ford back and no matter who answers the phone, tell them you need to talk to their superviser, and if that person can't satisfy you, ask who is the next step up. Keep going, don't stop, because there is some one there that can make it right. But what ever you do don't get mad at anyone, and defently don't say you'll never buy another Ford or threats of any kind. If they think they've already lost you as a customer, then what do they care what you think.
I was a cop for 19 years and the one thing that job tought me was all ways start out nice because theres plenty of time ta get mad later if you need to.
The truck is a 2wd 4.2 V6/auto. I am not sure of the actual code. I know they have replaced the timing cover, a head gasket, 3 cam sensors, 2 cam syncro's, a section of wiring, and done page after page of repairs without fixing the problem. I asked to speak with a factory rep, they said the dealers cannot set that up now. I do know my fuel mileage has dropped from 18mpg to 12mpg. The lemon law in my state is for vehicles with less than 18k and 18 months old. I am over on both. I have filed a claim with the BBB auto Line, but have not had a reply yet.
Mat when I called the Ford customer 800# I asked to speak with a supervisor, and the fellow said I could only to talk to him. I tried to trade it back to the selling dealer last week, and they offered me $9,000 trade in on a new F-150. The sales manager said they know the history and dont want it back. My truck has 28k, never been smoked in, has no body damage, and has been garage kept!
Tell the 800#, "want ta bet". But also say that if he can mae it right than find. But what you need them to do is set up a meeting with the factory rep.
