I just bought all of my books for this semester in school, and all I have to say is "WOW!" I shopped around and found the best deal on my books, and it was still over $300 just for one semester. Seems kinda silly to me. Oh well. At least I can sell most of them back after the class is done.
i feel ya. I bought books for 2 classes and the bill was just shy of $200.
Its absolutely mind boggling that most of us live in the greatest country in the world and we dont have free education and heath care. But every one's got to make a buck some how.
Make sure you check out Amazon and used book places around campus! Once most of my classes were using new editions of text and there weren't a lot of used books. I paid close to $700 that term. Made quite a bit of that up when I sold them at the end of the term, but man, that was brutal.
I'd try and find books online and from other sources, but if a professor uses the lastest edition, theres not much you can do, My sister in law just spent 690.00 on a bunch of nursing books....
Yea, my books cost me over $320 and I got all of them at the lowest cost I could find. The worst part is selling your books back if you sell them to a university book store. Here you usually get back around 8 - 10% of what the books cost you. Lucky for me I know a few people who are just 1 semester behind me in the same program so I can get decent money for the books I do decide to sell.
I will probably sell my books on e-bay when I am done with them, or wait for next year and sell them to other students as well. Although, I got a pretty good deal through Amazon.com and will probably make most of my money back if I sell the books back to the university bookstore. We'll see what happens.
