I tried doing a search for "remote starter" to see if this topic had been covered. The result was a looooooong list of random, irrelevant stuff. So ...
Any opinions about adding a remote starter to a Bronco? I'm looking to add only the starter option, although if I have to get an alarm, too, that could be considered. I'd just like to start my truck from inside the house where it's warm.
Thanks!
Oh, and if this is answered somewhere obvious, such as the FAQ section, please feel free to point out my laziness in not reading that area very well.
I added one to my 89 EB. It's great to get up in the morning, hit the button and go out to a warm truck. I put it in myself, I've installed five total. It's not to bad if you can read a wiring diagram and aren't afraid to cut into wires under your dash. There are resources available on the web that tell you what color the wires are and where there located at.
My 93 came with Viper alarm w/ remote start I like it alot. Warm truck on cold morning, and cool truck on hot summer afternoon. Plus I can start it and let it run while it's still locked with the alarm set.
Mine is a DesignTech (not sure if this is allowed by FTE rules, but the website is designtech-intl.com). Just a remote starter, no alarm, no other bells and whistles. Bought it off of Ebay, new in package, for less that $30.00 - came with an instructional video. Took about 2-3 hours to install, but that was being cautious. Knowing how to do it now, it would only take half that time. Works like a charm. Like the others say, a warm Bronc' in the morning is awesome...Don't use it much for summertime cooling, but have from time to time. Another nice feature is that you can remove the key from the ignition, like if you want to run into a store or something, and still keep her running.
