Is There Any Difference In Turbos Between The 2003 Model And The 2004 Model? My Neighbors Truck Is An 2003 And Boy Does It Whistle...i Would Like To See If It Is Possible To Make A 2004 Model Sound That Way. Thanks
Yes, The 04 has more vanes (if I remember correctly) any way its designed to be quieter. get some exhaust and remove the cat and it will sound like a jet
Thinking maybe I can just change out the Impeller, Impeller shaft, and the Compressor wheel without having to completely remove the turbo. I have done that on a cummins/holset but, not sure if you can just do that on a 6.0. I know if I have to change the turbo out with the other I will have to change the turbo pedistal also for an 03 turbo to fit. The only thing I am really worried about is the electronics of the truck and how it will react to the possibility of more or less boost, and if the VGT Solenoid of the 03 will interact with the 06 ECM. Anyones input is welcome....

Back bolt for mounting turbo to pedestal differs from 03 to 04, but as long as boost pressures do not exceed 25 psi you should be all right anything more and you will be doing head gaskets, recommend reflashing pcm after changing
YES.. Welcome to Ford Truck Enthusiasts! Please read the Guidelines, it will help you to navigate through and understand FTE.
Must read if you own a 6.0 https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=325000
See you on the boards.
Enjoy FTE …..
If 25 PSI is too much Pressure I should have needed head gaskets on my 06 at !,000 miles. And my 04 run 34-36 PSI for almost 2 years. Didn't have a head gasket problem. And yes, I know the pedistal from 03 and 04 are different. I just need a pedistal to swap with the other and be alright.. I am still working on the technical side of things to see if it will be able to communicate with the pcm.
wow thats amazing ive done 6 or so sets of head gaskets from 03-05, 5 of these vehicles had pwr chips, only one was stk and had an over boost concern 30psi, those torque to yeild head bolts cant take the constant stretching
