Hey guys, recent climate temps are driving my truck's temps quite hot. My radiator is nearly shot. I have a 300-6 and was wondering if anyone knows about the compatibility between Ford's van line and truck line. I found an 80's van with a good radiator, fan, shroud, and clutch at one of my local junk yards. My problem is that the van's radiator (w/AC - mine not) appears a little wider and the shroud to water pump appears closer on the van than would be on my truck. Have any of you guys pulled any cooling devices off of '80's vans and installed them on your 70's trucks?
The '80's vans use the chassis that was introduced with the '75 vans. The '70's pickups and vans don't share any radiators because the dimensions are different. This also means that the '80's van radiators won't fit your truck.

My "71 two wheeler has a wide crossflow radiator in it and I am certain thats not what it came with. It is bolted to the radiator support with some small L brackets and is doing just fine. DF
Thanks for the info. While we're at it, do you guys know when Ford started putting fan clutches on their trucks? Is there a paticular advantage of a flex fan to the stock 4 blade boomerang of a fan I have now?
i don't know when flex fans appeared in trucks but i put
a 1975 comet flex fan on my 71 302. no difference in cooling
but the noise reduction at 55-60 mph was well worth the swap.
i'd definitely toss the 4 blade fan.
