ok fellas i wanna stroke my 390 with a 428 crank. i am looking for ideas on how to build my engine like this to what i need it for. it is going into my daily driver(69 f250 4x4). so i need it to haul some major a$$. but i also need alot of low end for off roading. so any suggestions on how to build it are welcomed and appreciated.thanks fellas
i know that ford made the engine but i do not have one readily available. so i want to build one out of my 390.i can get the 428 crank. so once again any input on how to build it how i want will be appreciated. thanks
compresion will be a problem 410 pistons are hard to come by you will want the lowest compresion 410 piston you can find and the largest chamber heads you can get these engines were made to run on a lot better gas than we get today
also your gonna have to drop a cpl hundred on a flywheel since the balance is different but you will have an engine with probably over 400 ft/lbs of torque and in the 400 hp range too
Large chamber heads like 427 LR w/ hard inserts, Silvolite pistons, internal balance so you can use any zero balance flywheel, this will save money for the balance, 390 rods w/ARP bolts. This will get you around 9.0 cr vs standard 410's 10.5 cr as todays gas is crap. I have over 250K miles and approaching 14 mpg if maturely driven.
