I have to put my truck in the shop for the first time tomorrow and i was wondering if i will get any kind of rental car for the time being to get back and forth to work while it is in the shop it is still under ford factory warranty with 4500 miles on it any help would be appreciated.
My service dealer (not who I purchased truck from,) will give a loaner if the work is going to take longer than a day. They certainly don't loan me 33k truck (usually a neon or something like it,) but at least it's something to get me to work.
I have never had my truck in for longer than a day. My dealer will give me a car if 'he has one', which is about 1/2 the time. On the occasions when they do not have one, they will take me to work if needed (about 15 miles away). I've taken them up on that offer a couple of times. I never asked about them picking me back up, I just get a ride with a co-worker.
As others have said, I think it just depends on the dealer. I like mine (so far anyway).
My insurance company provides for a rental car when my truck is 'out of service'. I don't know if that means in for accident repair only, or if I could get one for any reason I didn't have use of my truck.
I never tried it, but I would have to guess it means when it is being repaired from an accident....
thanks for the replies went to the dealership this morning and he was backed up for about 2 weeks so i didnt end up dropping it off but i did ask about a loaner car and they will give me one.
Glad to hear of peoples good experiences ingetting a loaner. I've had my truck in the shop, NYE FORD in Wasilla, Alaska for recalls and warranty work on a few occasions. Each time, I made the appointment two weeks in advance 9due to work schedule) and have asked at that tim about a loaner, been told "no problem". I show up at 7am (opening) check my vehicle in (knowing it's going to take longer than a day) then ask about a loaner and am told "oh sorry, we don't have any available". This is lousy service, especially since I made the appointment way in advance and requested a loaner. I will say though, I make them regret it....I then request a ride to my house....15 miles away, and when they call to tell me it's ready, I tell them to come pick me up, as I obviously have NO transportation...ha,ha,ha!! What really grabs my you-know-what, this is the second $35K vehicle I've bought from them in a 4 year period.
Basically, I've come to learn not to hold my breath with this dealer on loaners....period!
