I just got done modifying my 05 Superduty grill. It cost me $40 on Ebay. I not a big fan of chrome and I am cheap so I figured I would try doing it myself. Not bad for 2hrs of CAREFULL cutting with a razor blade and $40. I am probably gonna add billet inserts but this is what I got so far. What do you think?
That looks sick. That is one of the next things I was going to do to my Ex after or before the projection headlights. How much cutting is involved in switching grills?
I had to trim off about 1.5 inches of the bottom portion. I also had to modify the bottom mounts for it to fit. I actually trimmed them to make them fit in the gap between the header panel and bumper. The metal clips snap in place under the panel and hold it securely in place. Pretty trick I think.

Watch out on those projection lites. I tried a set on my 04 EX and the actual projection light (a 3rd light that requires new wiring, in addition to the 2 stock lights) sticks back too far and hits the plastic header brace before the lite assembly fits into place. The only way to get it to fit is to remove the projector 3rd light. No room to cut hole in header, anti lock controller in way on left. So, they are back in box.
there is a company on ebay who does the same thing except that they are brand new ford grills. and in chrome.. i thing the price is $250. or around that. i heard good things about them too. buckshot, you need the clear corners/turn lights. the amber ones show the age very easily.
I need a Oxford white one and the matching bumper off a f-250 super duty... Did you have to do any modifications to the grill by the hood? Just wondering if the hoods are the same between 02 and 05 I have a pic of a whited out X and it looks awesome. I will be getting rid of my chrome grill with the billet inserts in it as soon as I get my new stuff. Prolly right about when my tax return arrives
Hey guys, here a pic of my completed front-end redo with a modified e-bay grille along with 05-06 headlights and a new lower valance. This was posted in the Super duty forum but still applies here as all the front-ends are the same. This is my 99 F250. Headlight install was with major modifications or you can just purchase a new 05 header panel and they bolt right in. If you buy the new header panel you will also need a new 05 bumper. My pic shows I was able to keep my original bumper and still be able to do the light install......https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...id=106088&.jpg
i was told that the super duty and the excursion had different mounts. and that a super duty bumper will not bolt to an excursion and vise versa.. i am not sure . does anyone know for a fact which is true??? oh, turbostroke, it looks sweet. i like the chrome hooks and the valance.
99-04 F series super duty (250/350) and 00-04 Excursion are built on the exact same F250 platform design. Front end pieces are interchangeable between these years. Headlights, grilles, bumpers and valances with fit both vehicles
thats my thing also. i love the new lights, but i have the HID conversion kit and i need to still be able to use my bulbs. if it can be done, i'm doin it. thanks.
