Thinking of upgrading my 93 E4OD, with the Baumann tranny Controller. I'd have to switch to a computer from a 93/351W/Manual tranny to prevent setting off codes, or cut certain wires to the computer from the tranny and use a chip in the computer. Just wandering if it would be possible/easier/cheaper/better to just swap in a 4R100 or maybe the new 5R110w Torq-shift. Are they not just improved versions of the E4OD? If I need to switch computers to get better shifts out the E4OD, why not just switch to an even better tranny? Having another gear would be a great thing...........
I'm not sure about the 4R100, but the 5R110W came well after the 302/351W lineage has been discontinued, so most likely it wouldn't bolt up to your engine. You can probably get an adapter made, but there may be a few other gotchas, so I wouldn't bother with it, even though it could be a superior tranny. The 4R100 is somewhat older and it's mostly an E4OD, so you may have more luck with that, but I would check fitment first. It may only fit modular engines and PSDs. The E4OD is actually a pretty good tranny, and the only sensible swap I can think of is for the ZF5.
Massey arent you over on FSB sometimes also. you should speak to paul and get one of his valvebodies. ive heard great things about his work and how the VB's improved the trannies behavior. Now if you did get a Bauman is it tune able?? that setup is rather spendy if i recall.
