I've never owned or driven a diesel, but i have heard that a diesel engine of the same size as a gasser will get worse acceleration. from what i know of, since a diesel is designed for more HP and torque at lower rpm's, i would think that it would get much higher acceleration. i know only one person with the 6.0l diesel and he says accel is fine, but with 6 liters i would expect it to have a lot of pick up and go regardless. just curious.

This wasn't a bad 0-60 time. I also had one that was 5.9 seconds 0-60.
the newer computer controlled versions have real good response, and a properly tuned older diesel will perform pretty good, but they were mechanically injected, aso a little more sluggish in comparison, but they were not intended for fast revvs, and most diesels are all in on their power by 3000-3500 rpm. My old 6.9 has pretty good response, not too much behind a gasser.

A diesel engines strongest asset is it's ability to haul heavy loads at WOT and not burn itself out like a gas engine would. It's brute strength and ruggedness make it ideal for the application. That's why all heavy duty engines are diesel, locomotives, semi trucks, bulldozers, etc.
DougD,,How do like your Edge Attitude? Where does it hook up to get those readings ?
What other readings does it give you ?
I just bought a 06' F-350 6.0, new to this stuff.

First of all I love it. Just for the improved drivability alone...
The display on the Attitude platinum will read up to 4 different engine parameters. You have a choice of 13 different engine functions to display in those read outs.
The Attitude displays all the information a set of gauges would including RPM, Boost, EGT plus:
• Transmission Gear
• Transmission Fluid Temperature
• Transmission Slip Percentage
• 0-60 and Quarter Mile Times
• Backdown Percentage
• Intake Air Temperature
• Engine Oil Temperature
• Torque Converter Slip Percentage (when torque converter is locked)
• Engine Coolant Temperature
• Load Percentage
• Throttle Percentage
• Correct Speed MPH
• Torque Converter Locked
• Engine time On
• REMOVES SPEED LIMITER
• For race applications only
• FEATURES FULL TRANSMISSION CONTROL
• Defuel During Shifts
• Defuel During Transmission Slip
• Defuel During TCC Lock-Up
• Adjust shift firmness and TC Lockup points
• INCLUDES TURBO TIMER!
Turbo timer feature prolongs turbo life by allowing the truck to continue running after shut-off until a
predetermined EGT or Time is reached.
• DISPLAYS AND CLEARS TROUBLE CODES
• Including complete text descriptions of the error code
• SHOWS TRUE SPEED
• By taking into account changes in tire size and axle ratio
• ADVANCE SAFETY FEATURES INCLUDE:
• Automatic defueling to prevent excessive EGT, turbo boost and transmission slip
• Cold engine protection
• User selectable audible alerts for EGT, speed, boost, engine and transmission temperature
• REPLACES GAUGES
I have a contract(with a partner) with Edge Products to film and produce installation DVD's for the Edge Attitudes. For the 6.0L ford the Juice unit hook directly in line twith the vehicles PCM and then one cable into the driver's compartment to the Attitude monitor. Really easy install. You also need to drill and tap the exhaust manifold and place a temp probe there that also hooks up to the Juice unit under the hood. That is what allow the readings of EGT's to increase the safety of the engine operation.
One added freature is that is going to allow a wireless back up camera in it.
I am trying to get them to send me this unit. (free I hope)
The A-2. It replaces the Attitude monitor on your dash (like the one I took the pic of) with a better monitor that reads out 12 engine parameters and has the TomTom GPS system in it. It is touch screen.
