I just replaced the gas tank on my 68-100 360. THe truck has an electric fuel pump(that's the way I bought it). The "new" tank is from a 71. Now my truck won't crank. It appears to not be picking up any fuel. I ran a stiff wire through the "pick up" tube on the tank. Does this fuel pump need to be primed? If so how do I do it other than to somehow squirt fuel into the line from the tank?
If the tank is full.. you should be able to `siphon` gass from the fuel line of/to the tank.. If gass will not gravity drain from the tank then the line is restricted or blocked.
Once you have gass flowing from the tank the electric pump should handle it from there..
Is there a filter on the tank line.. ?

I've encountered this problem after changing electric pumps. It's usually not possible to mount them in the perfect possition, i.e. below and real close to the tank.
If you have air pressure you can wrap a rag around a blow gun and stick it in the filler hole to prime the pump. It wont take much pressure. Don't get carried away.

had this problem with my electric pump too, I just disconnected the outgoing side of the line, back near the pump, and made sure i had plenty of gas in the tank, and fired the pump up for about 20 seconds or so, till gas came out, then hooked the lines back up complete.
