ADD-A-LEAF pros and cons

could someone tell me the pros and cons to installing add-a-leaf front suspinsion. difficult install for the average PSD owner? what kind of roughness to expect over oem suspension? any links to install sites? wanting to level the truck at a low expense 2 or 2 1/2 inches

Don't know the difficulty, but another option is the shackle reloctaion kits, they will maintain the factory ride.

I'd look into the shackle relocation kits. I have a front leveling kit, and the ride is pretty harsh. But, I do have a 1 ton truck, so I shouldn't expect a luxury car ride out of it.

does anyone know a good place to get a shackle relocation kit? Are they fairly easy to install?

Yeah, let us know I am looking for one as well. The local tire store said that shackle lifts are illegal but I'm sure thats bs.

I just looked at their site and they have the 2'' shackles for $45 bucks. However, when I clicked on part number it says for Izuzu, guess I will have to call them. Also, it says they are for a 2003 F-250- 350. Any difference between 01 and 03? I dont think so

I have an add a leaf. Got mine for $100.00. I think they are Ruff Country or Tuff Country can't remember it's been awhile.

Install is fairly simple. Just undo back bracket slip them in. They give you new spring bolts that hold them together. You will need a c-clamp to clamp them together then just tighten down the bolt they give you. You will have to cut the back clamp off the springs with a grinder if memory is correct. The new springs will have a new clamp on them. Getting the axle lined back up takes a minute. We used a come along and chain to work it back into place. It is pretty simple. I believe I had two jacks so you can move things where you need them. It took me about 2 hrs.

It really leveled mine up nicely. The ride is abit stiffer. I have had mine on for 3 years with good results so far. You will have alittle noise up front when they flex. A spray every now and then with PB Blaster usually cures it. We have two trucks like this. One with 300,000 and one with 150,000. We pull a lot of weight and it seems to really take that see-saw effect out when towing.

No I don't think there is a difference either. I also checked it out, looks like you would want part number 9622 or K629, both of those are made by superlift and about 500 for either one. I am going to go with the latter of the two. 1rst reason is my pads are worn out between the leafs up front, second, I like the spring designe they have, less torque on the mounting locations. The other nice thing about superlift kits they include the shocks to go with them. So you are not spending 300 on a kit and then still have to find shocks to work with the lift.

Mine squeak too. The Blaster cures it for a bit. It does get annoying though.
