Programming a 791XV Viper Remote Starter
Hi there
I have the 791XV Viper remote start/alarm installed on my '06 F350 PSD. It works great. The only problem I have is how to the change the timer settings. I tried the Turbo Cool down and it is set for only 1min. The little manual says it can be changed up to 10min. Bit I found that the manual doesn't really explain how to change the settings.
Just wondering if there is anyone out there that knows how to reprogram the timer settings.
Thank you in advance.

I'm not sure weather the stock fobs can be programmed. I never did inquire about it. Although I do know they still work, you can unlock/lock your doors with the stock fobs, however I did find out that if you have the alarm set and you unlock with the stock fob, it will set off the alarm.
I just use the stock fob to lock/unlock if I'm leaving the truck run while I run into the c-store in the mornings.
And for using it for awhile now, I am really happy with it and haven't thought about trying a different brand next time.
I can never say that I won't try a different brand the next time, because with the way technology changes, you never know who will come up with something better.

I spent 3 years installing alarms (95% DEI stuff....Viper/Python)
No, you cannot program a factory remote to a DEI alarm.
If would be easiest to just take the truck to your installer to reprogram the start/turbotimer functions. If the installer has a bitwriter(programmer) he can just plug it in and you'll be out of there in no time.
If the installer did not lock out the manual programming functions with a bitwriter then you can reprogram it at home. I dont have the directions for this anymore as its been 3 years since I've done and mobile electronics stuff, I also have a bitwriter so I never had to do that stuff manually If you go to the alarm section of the carsound forums you can probably get them from someone.
After doing a few hundred alarms I bought a bitwriter, most guys don't have them. One way to ensure that customers would come back to me for any alarm related stuff was to lock out the manual programming with the bitwriter. This also prevents someone from programming a remote to your car that you don't know about.
