Boss 351s?

What years and makes of vehicles were Boss 351s put in? I once saw a 1971 Boss Mustang...

Just curious.

boss 351s

FG76, thats what they come in, the '71 mustangs. There are similar engines in other year mustangs, and some torinos and whatever the merc version of the same thing was. Some 1970 ford cars had a 351C-4v that had the same basic struture, but with a hydralic cam instead of the boss' solid cam, some 71s had this engine also. In 72 I think it was called a 351CJ, but my memory is fuzzy here. It was the huge ports in the 4V heads and the bigish cam that made the Boss a screamer. In high school I put a '70 351C-4V from a wrecked torino into a '69 mustang. Headers for a 302 Boss sort of fit, and a little bigger crane cam kept things healthy. But the engine always felt lazy under 2500 or 3K. With a 4 spd, that wasn't really any trouble, but it used an awful lot of fuel. I don't think it wouldn't be worth a plug nickle in a truck. There are smaller 2V versions of the same engine that might do alright though. DF, @ his Dad's house
