PSD Remote Starter

I'm looking in to getting a remote starter for my '01 F350 7.3 PSD. Gas is no big deal, it is the Diesel that I'm worried about.

Any comments/suggestions???

I'd like to install it myself, BUT I gotta do it in the driveway. Catch is when it is warm enough to install it is when i don't need it and the other way around.

I'm looking at the Bulldog Model 621 with the wiring harness. Anybody use it/install it?

What pitfalls did you run in to???

My PSD came with one the previous owner installed...."Astrostart"? i believe is the name. Has a built-in delay of 30 seconds. Works pretty good.

I have the ultrastart 2 way pager in my truck and i love it.It waits from 10secs or up to 2 mins before starting the truck, depending on how i set it.When i start the truck with the remote,it tells me after the truck is running. It tells me when the alarm is going off.It also tells me when the doors are locked or unlocked. There also alot more features, but dont want to make my post to long.

To your question maevans mine will work up to a half mile. The company claims a full mile.NOT

Just one installer, just that they had a hard time to find a good tac source.Plus i had a couple of other things that i had installed. But i do think that it is a good idea to let the pros do it.

i got my viper at circut city, they installed it, took them awhile, i know because i was stuck there waiting for it... it works great... 25 second delay on the start to give the glowplugs time to heat up... it also has the remote button for my power doorlocks, so now i have that on my XLT... but best of all, it comes with a "cool down" feature built in... you can push 2 buttons, then turn off the ignition and the truck stays running for either 5 mins or 10 mins to cool off the turbo... NICE..!

i got my python installed at a local shop for 400.00 and that was including the extra $$ for the timer for the delay start for the glow plugs. 02 and up PSD have to have a relay installed for the glow plugs. if you have a pre 02 the "brain" for the alarm just taps off the factory wire for the glow plug light and tells it when to start after the light has gone off. Im pretty much a DIY person but i've always left alarm installs to the pros. Just my opinion.

I also have VIPER alarm/remote start w/ turbo timer. I love that feature! The viper has wiring that hooks into "wait to start" light, so it will not start until that goes off. Like Johnny 8 was saying it runs after key removed (in timer mode) for 5min upto 10min or 15min as I recall. As i recall it was $300 or $400, somewhere in that neighborhood.

i have a Viper Responder 791XV under my bed, that i bought two months ago or so off of ebay (NIB) for $200. i opened it up and was like at all the wires. so, im procrastinating on taking it to a local speed shop and getting it installed.
